Sacred Heart Health System
The UF&Shands educational affiliation with Sacred Heart Health System began in 1996. The educational components of the affiliation include ACGME-accredited residency programs in pediatrics (emphasis on primary care) and in obstetrics/gynecology. Two full-time UF faculty members are in residence at the system to provide perinatal services.
The hub of the Sacred Heart Health System, located in Pensacola, Florida, is a 449-bed, acute-care facility that includes Sacred Heart Hospital, Sacred Heart Children’s Hospital and Sacred Heart Women’s Hospital. The hospital has been designated by United HealthCare as a Cardiac Center of Excellence. In 2003, the system opened Sacred Heart Hospital on the Emerald Coast, a 50-bed hospital in Walton County.
