Shands offers education to its community in all ways possible. By providing health fairs, blood drives and much more, Shands works hard to maintain a close-knit community with their public.

Trauma Awareness Day

To encourage trauma prevention awareness, Shands at the University of Florida hosts Trauma Awareness events in conjunction with National Trauma Awareness Day.

Local organizations offer their expertise in trauma prevention with exhibits and demonstrations to raise awareness on how to prevent trauma accidents.

In past events, the Shands Burn Center at UF, the Shands UF Surgical Intensive Care Unit, the UF Police Department, Alachua Fire Rescue, Safe Kids, and Shands Child Passenger have each provided information on how to prevent accidents in the home, at play and during everyday activities.
